Use Postcard Mailings to Generate More Qualified Traffic to Your Website
By Ray Boucher
Your website, if used properly, can be one of the best sales tools you have. Whereas most other forms of promotion are limited to the amount of information they provide, your website can have an unlimited amount of information. One of the key goals of promotion is educating your public about your products and services. You want to continually feed information and communication to your public to build confidence and trust and your website is one of the best places to do this.
Web marketing methods such as Google or Yahoo pay-per-click advertising and search engine optimization are very effective and should not be neglected; However, there is a great deal of competition for most of the common keywords and it can take a substantial budget to keep your ads in the top spots daily. With a postcard mailing you can promote your website to several thousand prospects at the cost of only about 40 cents or less per household.
When a person gets your postcard they may go to your website and check out some of the pages but decide not to act immediately. Then they might visit the website again two days later and call you. With pay-per-click advertising, every time someone clicks on your ad it costs you money. Unless they bookmark your site or remember the URL, they will have to do a search again to find you. Unless your budget is big enough that it causes your ads to show up on the first page every time, they might not find you again and will be clicking on your competitors ads.
Here are some of the benefits of postcards:
1. When a person acts on your promotion and goes to your website, you have their undivided attention as opposed to them just happening onto your site because you were one of the many ads they clicked on.
2. With pay-per-click ads you will have to deal with a certain amount of click fraud. Competitors will be clicking on your ads to keep track of your promotions. Remember every time someone clicks on your ad you pay.
3. With postcards it's more difficult for your competitors to track your promotions and react to your strategies.
4. When someone clicks on your Google ad, if they do not act at that point chances are they may not end up back on your site. With a postcard, they will have a reference to keep with your contact information and they can act on it at their convenience.
As you can see there are significant benefits to using postcard mailings to promote your website - when used properly this can generate a significant amount of qualified traffic to your site. If your site is engaging and rich in content, it will keep the visitor interested to view multiple pages and make regular visits.
Remember the goal here is to educate your public about your products and services to create that comfort with them. The more people you reach and get educated, the more you improve your ability to expand your customer base.
